Notes

God's Love in Action

Pastor Chang Kim

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Between the book of Malachi and the gospel of Matthew there was 400 years of silence. It was 400 years where God did not reveal anything new to His people.

God’s final word in the OT is of judgment and testifies to our inability to love Him on our own.

I.          God L us

For God so loved the world

The writing of these words is not to be taken too easily, it is to be taken seriously. The construction of these words in the original language emphasizes the intensity of the love.

II.        God G His only Son

Do we understand the gravity of His birth? It’s the birth of our Savior, our Lord, our King.

III.      God G Eternal Life

So, what does believing mean? It means to have faith that Jesus is real, true, alive, is active, it is personally acknowledging that Jesus died for me, that He died in our place.

Jesus says, I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Philippians 2:10-11

10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Discussion Questions

  1. How does it feel knowing that God loves us so much?

  2. What do you treasure the most? Would you be able to give that up for strangers/enemies?

  3. What can we give to God this Christmas?
